I am honored to be serving Bill Arp Elementary School, home of the Patriots, as on of your School Counselors 2nd-5th grades (our lovely .5 Counselor, Mrs. Rainford, is K-2nd grades). My goal is to provide a safe and warm environment for the students. I believe in viewing a child as a whole person. My belief is a student is more than the sum of their parts; beyond labels, handicaps, or disabilities. I'm here to guide the students towards the best path for their academic, social and emotional well-being.

As a therapist over 10 years prior to the school system and former teacher, I am dedicated to student success and academic achievement, as well as understanding the importance of developing relationships for student success. BA Major: Psychology Minor: Sociology, MA in Psychology (Clinical Track/Organizational Development), Ed.S. in SPED with Leadership Endorsement, and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Four years in the classroom and twelve years as a School Counselor, I am blessed to be starting my 17th year in the Douglas County School System. I believe every student is capable of success.

Davon Rainford

Kinder-1st Grade

Working with children brings Mrs. Rainford great joy. She has worked with children in education for nearly 18 years.  This is her first year as a Douglas County School System educator. As one of your School Counselors at Bill Arp Elementary School, she is blessed to be serving K-1st graders this school year.  Her personal philosophy of professional school counseling is to place children in the least restrictive environment where each student can learn and reach his or her maximum potential given the provision of proper instruction, technology, and any other necessary resource. As a professional school counselor, her purpose is to ensure that students have access to responsive services via the school’s comprehensive counseling program. She believes through collaboration with administration, teachers, guardians, other counselors, and the community the comprehensive counseling program will continue to flourish.

Mrs. Rainford has earned degrees from University of West Georgia with a BA in Psychology, Minoring in Marketing and M.Ed. in School Counseling. She also holds an Ed.S. degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University.
