Hello My Name Is...

Brandy Ruhl

<I am thrilled to be a Bill Arp Patriot for my 21st year of teaching! I grew up here in Douglas County and graduated from Alexander high school. I went on to attend UGA for my undergraduate studies in art education and then went back to school for higher degrees to continue my learning. I have a Masters degree in Integrative Arts Curriculum from Lesley University and a Specialists degree in Teaching and Learning from Piedmont college. I believe that art is deeply personal so I run my classroom like a real art studio where the student is the artist.  The question, "What do artists do?" is the driving force behind our art curriculum. Students are led to be more independent by developing and creating their own ideas, troubleshooting problems, safely and responsibly handling art tools and materials, sharing materials and space, and communicating ideas and opinions in appropriate ways.  I am thrilled to start this year with our amazing Bill Arp Artists!
