THIRD GRADE

School is off to great start! Here is what Third Grade is working on for the months of September and October:

Reading/ELA/Writing:
We are work on informational text and opinion writing. We are also reviewing basic grammar usage. Remember to read for 20 minutes a day!

Math:
Multiplication and Division unit. Repeated Addition as Multiplication, Properties of Multiplication, Arrays, Repeated Subtraction for division,  and Division. We have also started on our Math Facts for multiplication.

Science:
Fossils and how they are formed. Students are learning the conditions of fossilization. Both plants and animal can become fossil.

Social Studies:

In Social Studies, students are becoming more responsible 3rd graders by becoming citizens of their classroom societies.  They are applying for jobs while focusing on and demonstrating what it takes to be a leader each day!  All students are learning about what it means to be producers, consumers, and the role of scarcity in our every day economy.  Also, ask your child about various global features... like the equator, prime meridian, lines of longitude, and lines of longitude.  They are so amazed at the way our rivers helped shape our human system and way of life. In the next few weeks, we will be focusing on how the Native Americans from various geographic areas utilized their natural and human resources bases on their environmental needs.
